ABOUT
US
We
are a small gardening firm dedicated to both professional, reliable and
friendly customer service and strong commitment to an organic ecofriendly
approach.
My
name is Kevin Pressland and I am a qualified horticulturalist who has
always been dedicated to an organic approach to horticulture. We believe
the industry has to be more responsible in its product use in the form of
containers and its management techniques in the plant production process.
And in general garden development and there longer term maintenance and further development.
In
all areas we implement organic principles. Where possible we purchase
organic certified plants these can be organic certified ornamental
herbaceous plants, organic certified herbs, organic certified shrubs,
organic certified trees, organic certified fruit trees, organic certified
soft fruits, organic certified native specie trees and shrubs and organic
certified seeds.
To
combat any nutrient deficiencies found present in the soil we use organic
feeds e.g. organic seaweed meal, organic comfrey juice, organic nettle
juices. To improve overall soil fertility we use organic humus in the form
of manures where possible from an organic certified source, leafmould
where possible from an organic certified source, municipal composts of
organic origin and semi decomposed bark that gradually adds to the organic
humus content of the soil.
For pest and disease control we use biological controls e.g.
for slugs. We use companion planting techniques where the opportunity
allows and a whole plethora of other techniques to organically control any
large infestations. It must also be understood that a balance between
predator and pest is the aim not the extermination of pests from the
garden. This would have and sadly does have currently implications for
other life dependant on what we deem the pest. So an organic/permaculture
approach aim is to get a balance between predator and pest that is not at
a detrimental level to the crop or ornamental plants that are been grown
organically
Please have a look at the organic services we can provide
you. You will see an organic approach never needs to be boring or
unaesthetically pleasing. Why not opt for an organic approach and have the
peace of mind that you are being a responsible consumer and adding back by
hopefully wanting us to create a garden for you that is both exciting for
all the family, aesthetically pleasing and beneficial to native plants,
animals, insects and invertebrates
etc.
We
hope you opt for an organic approach.

are professional members of ‘Garden Organic’, the main promoters of

aesthetically from pleaching a raised hedging system that is relatively
easy to introduce and the impact of pleaching can be quite immediate
should you opt for an established pleaching framework. We can produce pleaching using young
feathered bare rooted tree stock the range of trees that can be used for
this pleaching can be therefore expanded please view the pleaching tag for

of the garden, be relatively easy to maintain, and produce wonderful
fruit. The fruit could be apples, pears, plums, greengage, cherries,
peaches, damsons, quinces etc. There is a wealth of fruit out there. We
would like you to have the opportunity to grow your own fruit and
understand how to do so. We can both supply prepare and plant and train
your fruit and give you advice on how to look after your new fruit trees
into the future. Top Fruit e.g. apples, pears, plums, greengage, cherries,
peaches, damsons, quinces etc can come on varying rootstocks this
determines the vigour of the fruit tree and we can advise which are

enjoyment from your soft fruit. Soft fruit comes in the range of
blackcurrants, loganberries, tayberries, gooseberries, worcsterberries,
whitecurrents, redcurrants’, strawberries. The season of production of
fruit can be increased by the cultivars of soft fruit chosen. Please view
fruit tag for further details or email us. You may not be familiar with
the term soft
landscaping; soft landscaping is determining and creating areas
for planting. These soft landscaping areas can consist of plant borders,
plant beds, plant shrub borders, orchard creation, woodland
creation, soft pond creation, wildflower areas, ornamental meadow
areas, wildflower
meadows, lawns etc. So soft landscaping encapsulates the soft
elements of a gardens form. Soft landscaping is the hub of a gardens
creation and character. The soft landscaping character is determined by
good garden design and longer term good management and development. Soft
landscaping is fundamental to a true garden. You may be aware that
woodland cover has diminished in this country over the years. If you have
spare land please consider a native specie woodland or orchard. We can
help either way in gaining possible grants for native woodland, hedgerow
and orchard creation. You can help threatened biodiversity that is so
under pressure in the current predominantly intensively managed
countryside. Woodland creation, orchard creation and or hedgerow creation
is a great contribution to make. Why not let us help you? Please see the
woodland
creation and the orchard creation tags. With the orchard creation
you can mix the range of fruit up. Various other things can be done to
increase both your enjoyment of the orchard as it is growing and
increasing the range of produce obtained from the orchard. Orchards have
been on the decrease for years it would be great if you can help counter
that situation by having an orchard on your land. We now can supply and
construct ecological fencing systems. We mean by ecological fencing
systems fencing materials that are sourced from good woodland management
in Hampshire. Please view the ecological fencing systems tag for further
details or email us.
We
are very conscious of the materials we use so all the products are
ecologically friendly. Please view our materials used
list.
We endeavour to source organically
certified plants where possible. We intend to produce our own plants and
would like to supply local produce too and go for organic certification in
the longer term through the soil association. If you know anybody who has
spare land and outbuildings that we could use for a nominal rent on a farm
tenancy agreement then please contact us.
